1. Who we are

Melbourne Traders Academy ("we", "us", "our") operates the website melbournetraders.co and provides an online trading education platform. We are based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

2. What information we collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the platform:

  • Account information — your email address, name, and password when you register.
  • Learning activity — lesson progress, quiz attempts, step completions, and streak data.
  • Community content — posts, replies, and likes you create in the community area.
  • Journal entries — trade notes you write in the trade journal feature.
  • Payment information — billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and device/browser information via standard web logging.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and deliver the service you signed up for.
  • To track your learning progress and display it back to you on the dashboard.
  • To process subscription payments and manage billing through Stripe.
  • To display your name and streak on community leaderboards (you can opt out in Settings → Privacy).
  • To send transactional emails related to your account (e.g. email verification, password reset).
  • To improve the platform based on how it is used.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each has their own privacy policy:

Supabase

Database and authentication provider. Stores your account, progress and community data.

Stripe

Payment processing. Handles all subscription billing. We pass your email to Stripe to create a customer record.

Sanity

Content management system. Stores course and lesson content.

Vercel

Website hosting and deployment.

Google

Optional — used only if you choose "Sign in with Google".

Anthropic

AI provider powering the Strategy Builder feature (Pro subscribers only). Prompts you submit may be processed by Anthropic.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted on AWS in the Asia-Pacific region. We use row-level security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. financial records related to Stripe transactions).

7. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and applicable privacy principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Opt out of having your name appear on community leaderboards (Settings → Privacy).

8. Cookies

We use cookies solely for authentication purposes (to keep you logged in). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your session cookie is set by Supabase and is required for the platform to function.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
